As a jewelry artist, I'm constantly intrigued by unique media options. Glass is a truly reflective canvas that allows for so many creative inclusions.
EternabeadsTM by CaraSmiths Celebrate the Memory of a Loved One.
A friend passed away, and I wanted to do something special for his wife. I kept thinking about her comfort during such a sad time. Cremated remains are traditionally stored in urns or scattered. I'd heard about compressing ash into man-made diamonds--a lovely tribute, but beyond the reach of many. So with the encouragement and advise of my engineer husband and glass artist friends, I created a cremate bead. The results were fantastic, but more rewarding was actually presenting the bead to my friend and how it made her feel. Some may not find this desirable, but overwhelmingly I've found it offers a sense of peace.
Word or mouth spread, and my studio work soon transitioned to creating handmade EternabeadsTM cremate glass beads using a flameworking torch, which are then kiln annealed for durability. By including a bit of cremate ash in glass, the result is an art piece that can we worn daily or displayed as a cherished memory.

"I absolutely love wearing my Eternabead made with a tiny bit of my brother's ashes. He died suddenly at the age of 39 and I somehow feel like he's constantly with me. It's the most thoughtful and beautiful tribute to my brother." Andrea H. Bethlehem PA
"Losing someone you love is always a difficult thing. You always have an empty spot in your heart. When my mother died, I knew I wanted to have Eternabeads made for myself and all my sisters. I can't begin to explain how it feels to wear that bead and have it so close to my heart. We all love them and constantly get compliments on their beauty. It really is a special gift to give yourself or someone close to you. Thank you." Liz Z. Matawan, NJ
